This one is easy! We rarely charge a retainer, typically referred to as a deposit. Exceptions: Short Notices (typically one month or less) or long distances (events over a 3-hour drive from Green Bay). Retainers are non-refundable unless we cancel the event or the cancellation is over 6 months from the event date.
Made the day of the event, in cash, money order, or cashier’s check. Personal Checks, Debit Card, or Credit Card payments must be paid in full no less than 7 days prior to the event date.
Payment plans are available with the payment arrangements addressed individually. Typically, it is divided into 3 payments with each payment due one third of the way from booking date to event date. Example: Event booked on July 3rd for an event on August 15th of the following year for $1000. Payment schedule would be $333 on November 16th, $333 on April 1st, and the balance of $334 in cash on August 15th (the event date).
Calls should be accepted during normal business hours. Keep in mind with so many spam calls these days, it may be advisable to text first to help ensure your call is not ignored simply because it is an unknown contact.
People are busy these days! Short messages like these are often preferred to get things started. These messages should be responded to in a timely manner. Same day for sure! Usually within a couple of hours
We all get busy, sometimes email gets put on the back burner! Give email communications some extra time for responses. Should still be within a couple days, a week at most!
Your song requests, whether it is a play or do-not-play request. Are given absolute priority. We do ask when creating such requests, you keep your entire guest list in mind. I night full of “Top 40 Bangers” will likely have your older quests leaving earlier than you expected.
Also, keep in mind that the average song is about 3 ½ minutes long. The dance portion of your event is likely about 4 hours. That would equal approximately 65 songs. Subtract from that the number of special dances you may ha
If the song is already on your playlist, we may move it up. If it’s on your do-not-play list. We will politely inform them it is a song we have been requested not to play. If the song doesn’t fit the current “vibe” we will add it to the playlist and continue to move it up or down to match the vibe and play it when it is more appropriate.
We will add it to the list move it up or down and play it when it is more appropriate and let the requestor know “we will try to get to it”. If it doesn’t ever seem to fit, it will likely not be played.
We try to play only radio (edited) released versions of music, if one slips through, we will mix out of it. Our music list is extensive, containing different versions of many songs. It is also possible we may not have the song. When this happens, we will acquire it from one of our many music sources (if available). Due to this, we may not always get the opportunity to preview the song before it is played. Note: YouTube music videos are frequently available before the track has been released
The timeline is as important to us as it is to you. We will assist in trying to be sure everything stays on time. While a timeline is important, please remember, they rarely are “exact” times. We will strictly adhere to the timeline(s) established if that is desired or remain as flexible as possible to accommodate those unexpected deviations.
The venue may have limitations as to how late we can play or how early we can set up. Our service is based on total booked hours (the setup/break-down is not included, nor charged for). Pre-booked blocks have discounts for larger blocks. Smaller blocks can add hours by paying an additional charge.
We provide an event planning guide from the DJ’s point of view. This guide is designed to help you plan music selection, special dances, identify people who are the VIPs, and provide some general assistance with timelines.
We are NOT an agency. I am the only DJ and my wife assists.
We will meet via phone, video, or in-person about 2 weeks before the event to review the event guide together, get to know one another, and answer any questions.
Music will be mixed without any gaps between songs. There are exceptions, but it rarely occurs. Many DJs “beat mix”. We beat mix, when possible, but many event types (weddings in particular) often have a wide variety of music being played in which beat mixing is not always appropriate.
If a music selection “clears the floor” we will likely mix out unless the selection is on a specific request list in which we will play the entire selection.
An emcee’s style refers to the unique combination of personality, tone, energy, and techniques that define how they host and facilitate an event. It’s not just about reading a script — it’s about creating a memorable, engaging experience that aligns with the event’s purpose and audience expectations
Whether formal, energetic, humorous, or warm, an emcee's voice and pacing set the mood. We use a polished, businesslike tone for corporate events, and playful, conversational energy for entertainment.
We read the crowd, adjust our delivery, and encourage participation.
We control the rhythm of the event — keeping transitions smooth, avoiding long silences, and maintaining audience engagement.
Forced imitation can feel unnatural; instead, let our strengths and quirks shine
Our style will match the event’s vibe
Our lighting system is mounted on tripods and is controlled from behind the DJ console. Most often these are sync’d in “auto” mode to the music being played. The lighting types include laser as well as LED lights.
We also have 32” TVs mounted to our tripods to display slideshows, convey timelines, informational messages and facilitate karaoke options.
Smoke or fog machines (Dancing in the clouds), bubbles, and sparks are also available for a small additional charge. However, it is HIGHLY recommended to check with your venue before asking for these options. Many venues do not allow them as the smoke can cause “false positives” and trigger fire prevention systems, bubbles can cause a slippery floor, and sparks (even cold sparks) can cause concern.
We drive a newer model, larger size, SUV. Our systems are state of the art and have gotten significantly smaller through the years with advances in digital sound and lighting technologies. This allows for smaller transportation options needed. We also use a rack mount or leverage a newer model trailer if the size of the event requires additional sound and/or lighting that will not fit.
Let us know the new location and we will be there! No questions, no additional fees (well, maybe some additional travel charges if applicable), we will flex and nobody will be none the wiser!
We work with a couple different DJs who can cover if needed. Unless I die, I will be there! Even if I die, someone will get hold of one of our backups!
We have a backup SUV. I did hit a deer once – the event started on-time. Had a flat tire once, event started 15 minutes late. We plan for these contingencies, so you don’t have to worry about them!
Our system is designed with redundancy in mind. IE. The “left side” is a duplicate of the “right side” and each side can run independently. The “middle” (DJ console) has backup equipment also available should we need it.
